Whispers of the Ice

Under northern lights, in Kaktovik's cold embrace,

Where silence breaks, and fears come face to face,

A whale laid to feast, with secrets deep and vast,

But out of the shadows, bears come stomping past.

Eyes like burning coals, stare into my soul,

In this icy wild, where the stories unfold.

Heartbeat racing fast, caught in this icy trap,

A delicate dance, with a predator’s nap.

Polar bears in the night, panic and wonder collide,

In the heart of Arctic, where dangers abide.

Feasting on the whale, they look at me like a snack,

Living on the edge, pushing safety back.

Frozen breath and soft snow, whispers of the cold wind,

Standing on the brink, where survival’s thin.

The icy beast’s vigil, a story of raw might,

In the darkness of the Arctic, under pale moonlight.

So I watch in silence, heart pounding wild,

In the land of ice, danger and wonder compiled.

Kaktovik's wild soul, a tale to tell,

Of polar bears and secrets, in the Arctic’s spell.
