Verse 1
Rome wore a robe of holiness, but darkness filled her pride,
She placed a man upon the throne where Christ alone should guide.
Ignored the law God wrote by hand—His truth they cast away,
They changed the times, the sacred day, and dared to disobey.
Chorus
They changed the truth for lies of men,
Put chains on hearts and minds again.
But light will rise, the Word will stand,
God’s law is written by His hand.
Verse 2
They said, “You cannot read His book, for only priests may know,”
But God declared His Word for all, to every soul below.
They trained the flock to follow men, not Christ the Shepherd true,
And burned the saints who dared to say, “Let’s go back to what is true.”
Verse 3
To claim the land the Lord had blessed, they made another creed,
A rising force to hate the Jews, born from a selfish need.
But when the sword turned back on Rome, her plan was torn apart,
Still she proclaimed, “You won’t discern—it’s hidden in the dark.”
Chorus
They changed the truth for lies of men,
Put chains on hearts and minds again.
But light will rise, the Word will stand,
God’s law is written by His hand.
Verse 4
They welcomed in the pagan rites, and tongues that had no sound,
They stirred the crowd with signs and fire, and danced upon the ground.
Emotions ruled, the Word grew dim, the law was pushed aside,
But faithful voices still declared the Savior crucified.
Verse 5
And when their own sought Scripture’s path, a reformation came,
So Rome revived with mystic lies, and built new creeds of shame.
The world was drawn by wonders bright, but lost the narrow road,
They joined with power to deceive, fulfilling what’s foretold.
Final Chorus
They changed the truth for lies of men,
Put chains on hearts and minds again.
But God will write His law anew,
On hearts prepared, on hearts made true.
Outro
So lift the Word, let light be shown,
For Christ will claim His bride, His own.
The beast may roar, the world may fall—
But truth shall reign, and God stands tall.
