I wake from a night’s slumber my heart beat across my chest, a loud thunder. Again I come back to this world, only to wonder what disaster will unfurl. Earthquakes in my mind while I sleep, I envision myself an old man begging on these streets. My demons attack me, relentlessly! I pray my spirit be cleansed by the lord only to awake and live by the sword.
Don’t want to fall asleep these dreams aren’t for the meek. My soul burns, I don’t want to return again. I’ll do anything to escape the pain. One day I will regain.
I fight it, I fight it, but I never win. Maybe my dreams are a manifestation of my sins, I can’t wait to open my eyes, only to be sent here again. Some nights I get away from the shadows and I can even dash the devil’s lasso. The days are hard and the nights are harder, I’m tired of being used by both sides like cannon fodder.
Don’t want to fall asleep these dreams aren’t for the meek. My soul burns, I don’t want to return again. I’ll do anything to escape the pain. One day I will regain.
