We flipped, jumped, swam, and played sports,

Did art

As the years passed

Watching you host

More then anyone deserved

Many nights you cried

Many times you lied

Giving all you had

Acting like we weren't just getting by

I learned your strength

Many times when you stepped up

And thought no one noticed

Working extra hard as a single mother

To buy Christmas gifts for us

Pay for sports for us

Even though you couldn’t afford it

But you never once told us

You always came through,

found a way to get us through school

when I reached my rebellious stage

Thinking I was grown

Because of my age

Letting out hormone rage

Talking back

Throwing insults

Which results

Of being torn inside

Couldn’t fix some of the things said

even if I tried

But you still stuck around

Holding your ground

Loving me when no one else was around

I remember asking God for forgiveness

Even though I had already moved out

Praying for a way to resolve and dissolve the anger and hurt and evolve into

A Mother and Daughter

For better or worse

till death to us part

Thinking it would take longer

God came along and told my mother,
