Pavlov's bell, a simple sound∆, on the salivating hound∆,
Stimulus and response, a chain-reaction found∆.
Now the advertisers know, now the politicians sow∆,
The trigger-phrase to make you go, the puppet-string they tow∆, conditioning∆.
Skinner's box, the lever-press, for a pellet, more-or-less∆,
Variable rewards, a beautiful-mess, that keeps you in the game, possessed∆,
By the schedule, by the chase, by the hope upon your face∆,
That the next pull wins the race, dopamine's embrace∆, positioning∆.
They say the mind's a black box, inputs-outputs on the clocks∆,
No need to see the inner-locks, just control the stimulus-rocks∆,
And watch the behavior walk, watch the puppets talk∆,
On this predictable-chalk, this scientific-stalk, they're fishing∆.
Part IV: The Power of the Situation
(The beat becomes more aggressive, distorted)
Milgram's machine, the shock-dial turns, a lesson no one learns∆,
The voice behind the screen, the authority that burns∆.
"Just one more volt, it's for the science, it's for the cult, it's for compliance∆,"
And the subject's deep-defiance, dissolves in their alliance∆, with the man in the white-coat∆.
Zimbardo's basement-halls, the prison's painted walls∆,
Where the guard's cruel protocol, and the prisoner's downfall∆,
Wasn't in their blood at all, but the situation's call∆,
The uniform, the role, the loss of the soul∆, dehumanizing∆.
The Lucifer Effect is real, the switch you think you feel∆,
The "good" person's steel, can bend, can break, can kneel∆,
When the situation steals the script, and a new one is equipped∆,
And the line you thought was ripped, is easily-tripped, baptizing∆
The ordinary into evil, with the devil as the people∆,
In the shadow of the steeple, or under the flagpole-eagle∆, surprising∆.
Part V: The Fast-Thinking Ghost
(The beat drops out, leaving only a whispered, rapid-fire flow)
System One is the ghost, the automatic host∆,
It sees the world in toast, it jumps to claims the most∆,
It's the gut-feel, the stereotype, the fast-concluding-tripe∆,
It's the cognitive-bias pipe, the reason for the gripe∆, believing∆.
Confirmation bias, the digital-sycle, only seeing your own type∆,
Cognitive dissonance, the mental-gripe, when two beliefs collide and swipe∆,
Your comfort, your stability, forcing a rational-agility∆,
To twist the truth for your tranquility, the mind's own fragility, deceiving∆.
But System Two, the slow-review, the analyst, the true∆,
The one that has to push on through, the one that questions "who?"∆,
It's the skeptic and the scientist, the internal-exorcist∆,
For the ghosts that System One insists are real, intervening∆.
