Right Where I Stand

I’ve been pacing through the same four walls,

Counting cracks like they’re progress at all,

Every step feels a step behind,

Like I’m losing ground just killing time.

Had a map but I lost the thread,

Chasing ghosts of the life I said,

I’d be living by now, somehow—

Tell me when did I black it out?

I keep saying “one day” like it’s owed to me,

While the days slip by like a thief unseen,

And I’m staring at a life I built halfway,

Calling it a cage when it kept me safe…
