Under the Guyana sun

I was never alone

But the sky whispered

Said I had to roam

Packed a bag

Left my youth in the trees

Carried dreams

But they sank with the breeze

I left the warmth

Left the glow

Chased a land I thought I’d know

Heartaches piled

Love let go

I just want to be free

Just want to grow

Concrete towers

They swallowed my name

Every step forward

Felt the same old shame

Love came close

But it left like a flame

I built and I broke

Again and again

Searching for peace in a city of men
