Prompt / Lyrics
A young boy lays on his bed, dreaming of boats and ships in his head. He sketches his drawings into the night, beautiful drawings he was filled with delight He grew as a craftsman perfecting his skills Married his sweetheart together seventy- five years .. Raised a family and then they sailed the seas together A husband and father he knew was the key. He built his own sailboats he felt pride inside. They were beautiful ships, that he built with design Once long ago they were shipwrecked alone, they both swam to shore and made it out alive. They grew old together , holding on tight, They lived on his sailboat his own hands had made. I listened that summer in 76 to stories they told by candlelight stick The ship gently rocking, the tales that he told He thought he was reincarnated a sea captain of old His blue eyes twinkled with love of the sea. I was young with my whole life ahead of me. I'll teach you to sail, he said, “Come with us.” We will head up the coast to the Pacific Northwest. You will learn to sail and love the sea Oh the sea, Oh the sea … the treacherous sea, it's beauty and depth beyond degree A loving husband, father and grandfather, his legacy lives on in the lives that he touched with his words of wisdom and his love” [Final Chorus] [Violin Solo] [Final Chorus] [Pre-Intro]
