These lockdowns and quarantines, so unkind,
Have wrapped their hands around my mind.
Predicaments I face each day,
While you seem worlds and worlds away.
Commitments that you’ve chosen now;
They make me pause, they make me bow.
Where in the world could you be?
Why can’t you just be here with me?
The silence rings like old regret,
A love suspended on the net.
When will we ever meet again,
And feel what once we felt back then?
Do you still think of us and sigh?
Do memories make your spirits fly?
Is it still me that you miss most?
Or have I turned into a ghost?
This love, once bright, now held in chains,
Endures the distance, dreams, and strains.
Where in the world could you be?
Why can’t it still be you and me?
These lockdowns and quarantines, I see,
Have slowly taken hold of me.
