Bag of bricks
On my back
Headed north when I was 17
A 302 and Fleetwood 8 track
Living fast and running lean
I met a girl up there
And she wouldn't leave
Said this was her home
So I settled down and I married east of
Everything I’d ever known
Where I'm standing now
Is a long way from then
Bricks can weigh you down
Or pave the road, my friend
I come from red
Dirt roads
Long days
And July heat
My dad would say
Nothing good comes fast
Do right
And talk is cheap
He told me some
This place will get
Down deep in your bones
So I packed my bag
And I left behind me
Everything I'd ever known
Well where I'm standing now
Is many years from then
Bricks can weigh you down
Or pave the road, my friend
