I still leave the porch light on…

Even though you don’t come home anymore.

Maybe love never really leaves…

Maybe it just waits.

You found me when I was nothing but broken glass,

Picking up pieces from my shattered past.

You kissed every scar like it wasn’t a flaw,

Taught my frightened heart what forever was.

We built our dreams in a little old room,

Counting stars through a cracked bedroom.

We had no riches, just hands intertwined,

Somehow your heartbeat became part of mine.

Then life wrote pages we couldn’t erase…

And time stole the smile from your face.

If Heaven could replay us,

I’d fall for you again.

Every laugh, every tear,

Every place we’ve ever been.

I’d choose every goodbye,

Just to hold your hand once more.

Because loving you forever…

Is worth every war.

Yeah…

I remember cheap dinners and borrowed dreams,

You believed in the man nobody else seen.

Had holes in my shoes, hope in my chest,

You called me your home when I had nothing left.

I promised you castles, could only build trust,

But you made a kingdom from the two of us.

Then life hit hard like a runaway train,

Bills stacked higher than the smiles remained.

I watched you cry when you thought I was asleep,

Fighting silent battles you were scared to speak.

If love could heal, you’d still be here tonight…

So I’m writing these verses just to keep you alive.

Your old jacket still hangs by the door,

It smells less like you than it did before.

I wear it when the nights become too cold,

Pretending your arms are around my soul.

People tell me time will ease the pain,

But time only taught me to hide the rain.

They say let go… but how can I?

When half of my heart left with your goodbye.
