He’d been walking down a long dirt road
With a heavy heart and a broken soul
Hat in his hand, head hanging low
Just looking for somewhere to go
Every mile just wore him thin
Every wrong choice, every sin
Left him tired, lost, and alone
Just trying to find his way back home
So he went down to Calvary road
Where the blood ran red and the mercy flowed
Laid every burden, every load
At the feet of Jesus there
With tears that fell like pouring rain
He gave up guilt, he gave up shame
And he walked away not the same
When he met the Savior there
He traveled for miles, he fought really hard
His soul was on fire, his heart was scarred
He was battered and bruised, his heart was beat
He placed it all, at Jesus’s feet
That old rugged cross stood on the hill
Where broken lives are mended still
And in that moment, time stood still
When grace came pouring down
No more chains, no more fear
Love spoke loud and crystal clear
“You’re forgiven, child, come near”
And he fell down on his knees
So he went down to Calvary road
Where the blood ran red and the mercy flowed
Laid every burden, every load
At the feet of Jesus there
With tears that fell like pouring rain
He gave up guilt, he gave up shame
And he walked away not the same
When he met the Savior there
Now he’s walking on a brand new road
Saved by grace, redeemed and whole
From a weary heart to a steady soul
All because of Calvary
