Contemplate, appreciate all he was to you..  You did the best a man can do.
Your friendship helped a buddy through the push and shove that life on earth is prone to.  When no one else was there for him, you offered him a best friend.  Now he's free and has a place to be.
I know it's hard to know if all the talk of faith and everlasting life are words to swear by;  in your case, I think they are. 
Untimely death has left us wishing we could do just one more thing, and now we let his soul go to pass through an open door.  This is his adventure.  Now he sees more than we do.  Rest in peace, old friend.  We won't forget you.
