I met him
By the well
He was sitting all alone
I had come to draw some water
And to carry it back home
He looked at me, with loving eyes
so different from the rest
And spoke to me, to my surprise,
put my faith to the test
He said

Could I have a drink
From deep Jacob’s well?
Draw some water up
a cupfull would be swell
And if you ask me for a drink
I’ll answer you with haste
Take a drink of living water
the best you’ll ever taste

He talked with me for quite a while
Samaritan with Jew
It wasn’t supposed to be like that
my heart was racing too
He saw my sins and broken life
And loved me like I am
He says he is the promised one
and I believe in him!

With food that they had found
Saw him talking to me there
And placed it on the ground

But every word he spoke to me
Came flowing down like rain
