I crawled the leaves in morning dew

They flew away like strangers do

Wings of colors

Skies so wide

I stayed below

Nowhere to hide

Why'd they leave

Why'd they fly

Left me here to wonder why

Caterpillar blues

Caterpillar cries

Wings are dreams

But dreams say goodbye

The sun it burns

The grass feels rough

A little green ain't ever enough

I weave my thoughts in a silken haze

Stuck in the dirt while they find new days

Do they miss me

Do they care

Or did they forget I was ever there

Why'd they leave

Why'd they fly

Left me here to wonder why

Caterpillar blues

Caterpillar sighs

Wings are dreams

If I had wings

Would I stay true

Or would I leave someone like me too

The trees don’t answer

The clouds just stare
