Nighttime Whispers

Late night whispers in the early dawn

Cracks in the silence, a yawn fades on

He’s searching for comfort in a glass of cream

Lost in the shadows of a restless dream

4:30 AM, belly heavy, can't tie those shoes

Need a little milk, oh, he's singin' the blues

Burning from snortin' all night long

Trying to forget where he went wrong

He remembers the lesson, mom's gentle say

"Don't let the bedbugs bite," but they stayed

Hurts all day, it lingers deep

While he's lying awake, counting sheep

Hold on, hold tight, in the dark of night

Moon’s watching him, bathed in faint light

He’s just a kid with a balloon and a dream

Battling shadows, silent scream

A tweak and a potato, going to potate

His mind’s a maze, it doesn’t wait

A light on his head, a pen by his bed

Fighting the whispers inside his head

And as dawn leaks in, he finds some peace

Moments of calm, a gentle release

Morning will come with no more pain
