I watched people wait forever

For someone else to decide

Like freedom came with approval

From voices standing outside

They said be careful with your choices

Don’t risk what you already know

But every rule they handed down

Was written by someone afraid to grow

I listened long enough to notice

Most warnings come from fear

Not from wisdom earned through living

But from staying where it’s safe each year

Where people trade their own direction

Just to keep from feeling pain
