Car Battery Died at Grandma's House

Lonesome yellow porch light, shining in the dusk

Came to help my grandma's dog, a simple kind of luck

Ten minutes from my place, I was rolling on my way

Everything was quiet till I got here today

Helped her with her old dog, wagging tail and sleepy eyes

Gave him a quick smile, watched him cozy in him bed

Called my dad on a Sunday, just to say I was okay

Never thought the night would hit the breaks like this today

Sun dipped low, and the stars started to glow

Thought I’d be back home, just a couple miles more

Now I’m sitting here, with a sip of old coffee

Waiting on that jump, while the night gets cozy

My car battery just died at grandma's house

Banjo strums softly, in the lonely midnight air
