City Trouble and Country Roots part 2

Old man sittin' on his porch swing, watchin' the sunset fade away

Memories and warnings linger, in his heart they stay

He told his grandkids to stay on the farm, keep the world at bay

But they found their way to the city, where shadows often sway

Grandpa told 'em stories 'bout a world so mixed and wide

Warned 'em 'bout the dangers lurking, kept 'em safe inside

Big lips, big hoodies, gold chains shining in the night

He said, "Stay away from trouble, keep your noses clean, hold tight"

But he had dreams of streets and lights, chasing brighter days

Thought he could be different, find his own way

Now I'm sitting lonely, watching for the call to break the dawn

Praying for my grandkid, lest the night be too long

Oh, grandson, I cried, when I heard the news

Shot twenty-seven times, left his heart bruised

In ICU, fighting for life, in a world so cold and rough

He warned 'em all, but sometimes love's not enough

City’s got its rough corners, shining screens deceive

Kids get lost in shadows, can't see what they believe

Grandpa's words echo in the wind, a silent plea

To teach 'em about the life he choose, and what it means to be free

He dreams of a world where love can conquer fear

But violence takes a toll, and who’s to steer?

Waiting on good news, hearts pounding in his chest

Hoping one more breath, they find their way to rest

Oh, grandson, I cried, when I heard the news
