Tides of Change

Heart heavy, tides crashing on my chest,

Memories flooding, can’t let them rest.

Staring at the clock, hands frozen in regret,

Future feels distant, past won't forget.

Every word I spoke, a brick in my wall,

Built a fortress tall, but it’s bound to fall.

Shadows on my shoulders whisper sins I’ve earned,

Pages in my story, but they’ll never turn.

Lost in the mirror, searching for a face,

Every reflection just an empty space.

Tides of change, they’re pulling me under,

Cracks in the sky, a rolling thunder.

Every tear’s a river, carving my name,

Drowning in the echoes, but it’s me to blame.

Waves of guilt, they crest and they break,

Truth’s a bitter pill that I can’t un-take.

Tried to patch the holes with gold and lies,

But the cracks just widened, exposing the skies.

Wore my pride like armor, it cut too deep,

Now the wounds I buried, they won’t let me sleep.

Dreams turned to dust, scattered in the wind,

Fighting with myself, can’t seem to win.
