The ambient glow of the city lights twinkles in the distance as Ian leads Yuko toward a quiet, secluded balcony overlooking the harbor. The cool evening breeze carries the crisp scent of the sea, a stark and comforting contrast to the heavy, tense memory of the yacht from nights past. Here, high above the water with Ian by her side, the ocean feels peaceful again.
Ian pulls out her chair with exaggerated, chivalrous flare, bowing deeply with a sharp, charming grin.
"Your throne awaits, Ohime-sama," he purrs, his dark eyes sparkling under the warm string lights woven along the railing.
Yuko chuckles softly, settling into the comfortable seat as Ian takes his place across from her. He reaches straight across the small table, sliding his fingers through hers and giving her hand a warm, grounding squeeze. The low hum of soft jazz music plays from the restaurant inside, wrapping the two of them in a cozy, intimate bubble far removed from monsters, Devoss fights, or the chaos of the world.
"So," Yuko smiles, leaning her chin on her free hand while gazing at him, "where did the great Black Ranger manage to find a place this quiet?"
"I have my ways," Ian winks smoothly, his thumb tracing tender circles over the back of her hand before his gaze drifts down, resting with absolute warmth on her soft bump beneath her dress. His expression softens completely, the charismatic rogue melting away into the man who would move mountains for his family. "Besides... I promised you a proper night out. No interruptions, no emergency calls, just us."
Ian reaches for the chilling bucket beside the table, lifting out a dark glass bottle with a soft pop of the cork. He pours a sparkling, effervescent amber liquid into two crystal flutes, the tiny bubbles cascading rapidly to the top.
He hands one glass to Yuko, his dark eyes crinkling at the corners with an easy, warm affection.
"Non-alcoholic, top-shelf, and personally cleared by me," Ian says smoothly, raising his flute so the string lights catch the sparkling liquid inside. "Only the best for my Princess... and our little co-pilot."
Yuko lets out a soft, genuine laugh, taking the flute and feeling the cool glass in her fingers. The subtle clinking of the glasses echoes softly over the quiet hum of the harbor below.
"To what, then, Black Ranger?" Yuko asks, raising her glass to match his, her dark eyes shining with complete peace. "To surviving another week of chaos?"
"To that," Ian smiles, his voice dropping into a low, tender register as he reaches across the table to gently touch the rim of his glass to hers. Clink. "And to the future. To new beginnings, a quiet life, and always finding our way back to each other, no matter what."
Yukoโs smile deepens as she takes a slow sip, the sweet, crisp taste bursting on her palate.
