Who's Fighting for Us?

The frost creeps in through the cracks in the floor,

A chill that cuts deeper than the war.

A bitter wind whispers, "You can't fight no more."

We gave our strength, we gave our years,

Now we're left with battles no one hears.

We wage them repeatedly inside our heads,

The war ain’t over though the blood’s been shed.

Oh, the nights are cold, the days are long,

Lord, remind us where we belong.

We carried the flag through fire and dust,

But who's here now, fighting for us?

Lord, we’re veterans, struggling with our minds,

The winter winds howl, we’re left behind.

The cold sets in our bones, the pain takes hold

We fought for this country, we gave it our all,

The medals shine, but they weigh us down,

Memories echo, they’re the loudest sound.

Faces of those who never came home,
