The days are hard the road feels long

I hum a tune but it’s the wrong song

The nights are long the silence loud

Each one lonely like a hollow drum

I count the hours but sleep won’t come

The phone is silent like a broken chain

The doorway empty like a midnight train

The world don’t see the scars we hide

They just salute and walk on by

But you see me and I see you

We know the battles we’ve been through

Veterans need veterans nobody else gets it

But we'll stand together battle proud

We wear the weight like heavy steel

The pain is sharp the wounds are real

But in your eyes I find my ground

A brother lost now brother found

Through the fire through the fight

We’re the spark in the darkest night

I fight the memories they cut so deep

I fear the thoughts they don’t let me sleep

The tears are hot like a summer rain

The world feels cold I know we share the pain

We’re more than scars we’re more than years

We’re the strength that rises through the tears
