I was young and blind once upon a time.
I lived for the moment, they came and passed me by.
Here I lay lonely in reflection as my hair is Grey.
Lovers embraces, foolish stunts and hearty laughter.
Friends of old and family gone on to the next adventure.
When we are young
The days are long, time moves slow
Life gets crazy, work keeps piling
You blink and decades have gone.
Should of stopped to smell the flowers.
Laid in bed with you for one more hour.
Missed moments falling through these fingers
Like shadows fading away
The grass appears less vibrant
Blue skies are blurry to these old eyes
When did the dog slow down and sleep all day
Music is not what it used to be
I'm a stranger within my own story
These bones sure do ache
When we get older
Life flashes by and by
Who hit fast forward while I blinked?
Everywhere you look wrinkles appear
Time moves faster but you slow down
Where did last week go?
Now the kids have kids and we have a big quiet house.
We used to go to weddings and now its mostly goodbyes.
Soon its time to punch the clock for the last time.
What to do now with no master
Time to learn through child's eyes
Stop and smile and watch people hurry on by
