Egos In Control

You say just let it go.
For me to forget it - don’t let it show.
 Leave the past in the past.
You want me to pretend that nothing hurt me.
That nothing happened…but…

 how can we move forward when there’s no conversation? 
No acknowledgment of the pain that’s inside? 
expecting me to move on when there’s been no resolve.
Ignoring what happened, 
That’s not how healing happens.
Relationships can’t grow,
with egos in control.

Just sweep it under the rug for your comfort.
That’s how I feel. 
You expect me to smile even if it’s not real.
You want me to be free,
without accountability.
But…

I do forgive, 
but my heart matters too. 
I know it’s hard to face things,
But it’s like I’m exchanging,
My need for a real apology,
So you can be happy.
