Shadows of Selfishness

A shadow in my heart, he walked away,

With promises that vanished at the break of day.

A year we spent, but I was never seen,

He played the part, while I cleansed his sheen.

I gave him laughter, I gave him trust,

But in his world, it was just some dust.

He pointed fingers when the storm would brew,

A master of blame, he hid the truth.

Each tear like rain, washed down my face,

While he danced away, without a trace.

All his love, a game, a ruse,

He only took, never had to lose.

Oh, how could he walk away,

Leaving scars in the light of day?

Selfish heart, living for gain,

In his wake, all I feel is pain.

He didn’t care about the dreams we shared,

Just a fleeting glance, little moments spared.

Filling his cup with all that I gave,

A shadow of love, turned into a grave.

But here I stand, rebuilding my soul,

A heart once fragile, now learning to be whole.

With every step, I’ll rise from the fall,

Finding my strength, I'll answer the call.
