The war cries from above and below
Brave soldiers on the ground with nowhere to go
Bullets flying by at lightening speed
Soldiers are doing the bravest of all deeds
A distinctive sound of a bomb dropping
The constant danger keeps them hopping
Mike jumps, pushing Bobby to the ground
As the machine guns fire off another round
Bobby turns to Mike to say "Thanks man!"
Then he sees the blood on his hand
Mike looks slowly at Bobby near
His eyes were full of tears and fear
Mike's blood pooling on the ground
Suddenly, the war had no sound,
Everything slowed to a fraction of real time
Suddenly, there was no reason or rhyme
Bobby reaches over to compress the wound
But he knows Mike will die very soon
Mike gave his life for his buddy that day
He died on war grounds in a heroes way
Bobby looked deep into Bobby's eyes
"You're going to be alright," he lies
"You're going to go home now
I'll get you out of here somehow!"
Bobby sits, tears running from his eyes
While holding Mike saying his goodbyes
The war rages around the two men
As Bobby watches his dying friend
The blood encircles them both that day
And they both died in some way
