So they wait on the corner for someone to pass by. someone who would help them live just one more day and feed her starving child.
People keep driving past them, trying not to look their way.
But she knows that soon, an angel will come, so they wait.

Well, the sun seemed to set early that evening, and momma knew that it wouldn't be safe to stay there after dark. So in spite of her pain, she picked up her baby daughter, who was too tired and hungry to even walk.

she carried her for a while and noticed a restaurant that had been closed down for the night, walked behind It looked in the trash and took out a small bit of food that had been left behind.

as best as she could. She washed it with her tears and gave it to her child.
Oh it wasn't much but as her baby ate, she tried to force a smile.
she found some cardboard and made a bed, and they both laid down to sleep

and then, somewhere in the night, the prayer
they prayed was answered. They had prayed the Lord their souls to keep .

Yes, their angel finally came and carried them both away. But on that busy street corner, you can still hear that little girl say.
