Growing up, I always heard
That contentment is a lie
The only way to live
Is to live in joy.
Now I’m grown, able to choose
What to think
And what to do.
I’ve learned through these years,
That contentment is a peaceful way to live.
Finding happiness in where you are,
And enjoying the fresh air.
While I might be weary at the end of long days,
I’m no longer exhausted; emotionally, mentally, deeply.
I don’t chase the ‘what if’s’, or the ‘could have been’s’.
I work for the future I want,
But I don’t burn myself from both ends.
