I wished to be a fish
Able to swim the deepest depths of the sea
I wished to be a bird
Able to fly the highest points in the sky
I wished to be an ant
Able to crawl the bowels of the Earth
I wished to be a star
Able to shine for the entire Universe to see
I wished to be a grain of sand
Able to be set adrift with no idea of my destination
I wished to be a cloud
Able to drift in the wind and see everything below
I wished to be a note of music
Able to linger in one's memory for all eternity
I wished to be the perfect daughter
Able to accomplish all her mother and father hopes
I wished to be the perfect human
Able to put an end to all unhappiness
I wished to be the perfect Christian
Never sinning and making God sad
I wished to be an angel
To be able to worship God at his feet
I wished to be the perfect friend
To always be there for everyone
I wished to do all the right things
I wished to be all that they want me to be
To be able to never disappoint
Always do what's best
How can a wish so fervently sought
Create nothing but a knot
They called it freedom how I was raised
Too long I stayed there, enslaved
Time has moved on since then
Such a strange sensation this zen
Now I have just one wish
I wish to be just me
Such a profound switch
To the lock I faced I found the key
