I'm drowning at sea

Where no one can hear me

Drowning in a feeling

Praying to a God I don't believe in

Please show me the way

The lessons you teach

The prayers you preach

Teach me how to pray

I'm down on my knees

Begging you to please

Teach me of your gods mercy

Show me the way

Through this winter in May

Teach me how to pray

If I pray to him will he save me?

When these feelings are the ones he gave me?

I'm losing to the world every day

Yet you tell me if I pray to God he'll save me?

I've read your Bible and prayed your prayers

But the words taste of violence

And my prayers were met with silence

Do you believe in the words you preach?

The lessons you teach?

As you pass a plate to remind us that salvation isn't cheap

I see how you profit from the weak

Please show me the way
