Behind the Mask

Who am I beneath the disguise?

A shadow behind my eyes

Living a lie, hiding inside

Can I find the truth that I hide?

Sometimes I pretend, I was someone else

Wearing masks that I hide myself

Walking through a borrowed life

Questioning what’s real inside

Is this truly me or just a part?

A fleeting shadow in my heart

Every reflection, every disguise

Is a mirror of my own lies

This life is mine, I’ve lived it so long

But within the mirror, I see what's wrong

No one can tell, I hide so deep

But I know the secrets I keep

Looking in the glass, I see a stranger’s face

A borrowed face in a crowded place

Dreams I chase, some fade away

Living a lie, day by day

What’s real and what’s just a dream?

Is life as simple as it seems?

Every mask I’ve ever worn

A new story I’ve adorned

This life is mine, I’ve lived it so long

But within the mirror, I see what's wrong

No one can tell, I hide so deep

Sometimes a mask is a choice, not a chain

A freedom to be new, to escape the pain

Everyone wears a disguise, it’s true

But I believe in being true

No one is flawless, that’s living that’s life

In the end, it’s worth the strife

To find oneself beyond the guise

And live with open eyes
