Woke up this morning with the truth on my mind
Thought I had the answers, turns out I was blind
Life don’t whisper gentle when it knocks you down
It lets you wear the crown… then it takes the crown
I walked so certain down a road I chose
Confidence high, but nobody knows
Every step forward felt easy and right
Till the truth showed up in the middle of the night
Ain’t as smart as I thought I was
Life’s got lessons it don’t discuss
You think you’re steering, but you’re just along
Till the road gets rough and proves you wrong
Ain’t as strong as I claimed to be
Truth has a way of humbling me
But every fall leaves a scar I know
That’s just the price… of learning slow
Some folks preach like they’ve got it all
But everybody stumbles when the shadows fall
The wise man ain’t the one who shouts
It’s the one who’s learned what doubt’s about
Ain’t as smart as I thought I was
Life’s got lessons it don’t discuss
You think you’re steering, but you’re just along
Till the road gets rough and proves you wrong
Truth don’t scream
Truth don’t fight
It waits real quiet
For the right night
Ain’t as smart as I thought I was
But I’ve learned a thing or two because
Every mistake leaves a mark somewhere
And the honest man… learns to care
