The Death of Quezacotl

Down in the temple of broken stone

Where the old dark serpents lay

Richard drew the blade of Light

From the rock where it had stayed

But two red eyes in the doorway burned

And a hiss crawled through the hall

Old Quezacotl laughed like thunder

At the children standing small

Stood bleeding by the wall

And Amanda swore through dust and smoke

They would never beg or crawl

And Zach just laughed through broken breath

At the serpent looming tall

For the sons and daughters of Strongcastle

Were the last ones born to fall

There stood Andrew of Hover’s Pass

With the Lightblade in his rise

Prophet kicked like thunder’s wrath

And the dragon’s skull rang true

Then Andrew drove the shining steel

Clean the serpent’s brain straight through

So drink tonight to the temple fall

And the serpent buried deep

To Andrew bold and Prophet strong

And the children who wouldn’t weep

For the blood of Strongcastle still runs hot

When the world stands in the night

And a dragon’s doom is waiting still
