Left behind with four-ten-twenty

They pinned their hopes on his return

to leave us all behind:

venit, vidit, declinavit!

And they’re still here with us?

They told us all the time we’d burn

while they set us aflame:

venit, vidit, et evomuit!

And they’re condemning us?

They warned us of the Beast to come

demanding 6-6-6:

venit, vidit, et reliquit

And they were left with us.

venit, vidit, flens avertit:

adorabant daemonium.

I thought they’d all be gone by now,

but they left Jesus in their book.
