Old Mother Hubbard (4kids)

Old Mother Hubbard went straight to her cupboard,

To fetch her dear dog a treat she discovered.

But when she peeked in, she let out a sigh,

The shelves were all empty—oh me, oh my!

Her dog wagged his tail and tilted his head,

“No need to be sad, let’s search instead!”

So out they went with a happy tune,

Under the sun and the bright afternoon.

They strolled through town with a skip and a hop,

Passing the baker, who ran a fine shop.

“Good day!” said Hubbard, “Might we have a bone?”

The baker just chuckled, “I’ve cookies alone!”

The dog gave a bark that sounded like “please,”

The baker laughed loud, “Alright, take these!”

He gave them two biscuits, so warm and round,

The happiest dog in the whole town was found!

Next came the milkman with bottles that gleamed,

He waved from his wagon that sparkled and steamed.

Mother Hubbard called, “Could you spare a drop?”

He smiled and said, “For your pup, non-stop!”

They sat by a fountain where birds splashed and played,

And shared their small feast in the cool shade.

The dog licked his paws, then wagged once more,

“Let’s see what else this day has in store!”

They met a shy cat who wore a blue bow,

And danced in circles both high and low.

A bunny hopped by and joined the show,

It turned to a parade wherever they’d go!

Down by the river, the fish all leapt,

While Mother Hubbard laughed till she wept.

The dog did tricks, he spun and rolled,

And fetched a stick like stories told.

When daylight faded and stars grew bright,

They walked back home through the soft moonlight.

The cupboard still bare, but hearts full of cheer,

They’d had the best day of the whole year!

Mother Hubbard said, “We’ll fill it tomorrow,

With bones and biscuits for joy to borrow.”

The dog gave a woof and curled on the rug,

Dreaming of treats and her loving hug.

So when things seem empty or plans go wrong,

Remember this cheerful cupboard song!

You don’t need much to feel complete,

Just laughter, kindness, and friends so sweet.
