Shadows Return

Breath shallow, mind's in a fight

Echoes of doubt in the dead of night

Trying to hold, but feeling the fall

Familiar shadows, echoing all

Thought I left it behind in the rearview mirror

Thought I was free from that fear's hold so nearer

But here it comes, like a storm in the quiet

A resurgence of pain, can't silence or hide it

Every heartbeat's a warning bell

Dictates a story I know too well

Reconvening fears I tried to forget

Struggling to breathe, feeling upset

The worst kind of nightmare, haunting again

From a past I thought I overcame then

Anxiety's whisper creeping in

A battle within, trying to win

Oh, I thought I healed,

But here it reveals,

The pain's still real

Getting caught in the spin

Of the fear I thought was gone

Can’t find the dawn, I’m lost here alone

But I’ll hold on, fight the tide

Find strength inside, won’t let it slide

This pain will pass, I’ll stand tall
