Storm rolling low on a charcoal sky Rain tapping code while the hours slide by Sitting in my Silverado watching lightning split Every crack in the clouds feel personal as shit

Windows fogged up from the breath I hold Forty years deep and the nights stay cold Looking at the world like everybody found a map While I'm still lost somewhere between the lines and traps

Mind starts racing down roads I missed Thinking bout dreams that slipped my fist Every wrong turn got a ghost attached Every old wound still scratching back

I wear a hard face,keep my jaw locked tight But silence got teeth when it comes at night

When it gets quiet,the dark gets loud Like thunder breaking over black rain clouds Got me thinking I ain't enough for nobody Like the whole damn world moved on without me

When it gets quiet,my chest locks down Like I'm sinking slow and I can't come around Everybody building castles in the light While I'm fighting shadows in the middle of the night

Used to laugh half the night at some dumb TV show Now my thoughts won't sit still long enough to let go Three minutes pass and I'm somewhere else Digging through old scars I left on the shelf

Staring at walls like they owe me truth Trying to make peace with my reckless youth Pulling on strings already worn too thin Trying not to fight the man beneath my skin
