Abide with me; when daylight fades away,
And shadows lengthen toward the close of day,
When strength grows weak and all my helpers flee,
O Savior near, still abide with me.
When hopes grow dim and worries press me hard,
Be Thou my peace, my shelter, and my guard.
Through every storm, let faith remain in Thee;
In life and death, Lord, abide with me.
When fear assails and sorrow fills my sight,
Speak gentle grace and turn my dark to light.
Be Thou my song when tears begin to fall;
My faithful Friend, sustain and comfort all.
When paths are steep and answers slow to come,
Hold fast my soul until the race is run.
Let not my heart from Thy dear presence flee;
Through every step, Lord, abide with me.
And when I stand at last beside the shore,
With earthly trials and griefs remembered no more,
Then in Thy glory let me ever see
The One who came to abide with me.
Abide with me, O Lord, my constant stay;
Abide with me through night and into day.
Be near my heart, and let my soul agree:
In life, in death, Lord, abide with me.
