Down an old dirt road
I was ridin fast
Threw my cares to the wind
with my pedal to the gas
all my troubles were a mountin
In the place I was at
When I hit a little bump
And my tire went flat
I happened to pull over
near a little country church
Took a peek inside
Did a pretty quick search
Couldn’t find anybody
Not a little church mouse
That’s when I heard a funny sound
from the pastor’s house
In the wind they were blowin
all his white church robes
as he stood at attention
in his priestly clothes
His stole was a flappin
and his cross was too
when I heard him start a singin
Such a melody true
All my problems disappeared
as he bellowed those words
it was the way he was singing
to the squirrels and the birds
He didn’t know I was there
So he sang a lot more
And I’ll never be the same as I was before
He sang, Lord I been preachin here for
thirty long years
No one seems to listen and no one hears.
The very next person that comes to church
Lord, give him every miracle that he deserves
Well I knew right then he was talkin bout me
I could feel lord’s presence take ahold of me
My back was straightened and my gout was clear
I couldn’t feel the pains thatbi had felt for years
The hair on my head was brown again
And the best part was that I was free from sin!
I got back in my car, it was now a cadillac
I drove back to my mansion that used to be a shack
I kissed my wife that hadn’t loved me for years
and I broke down cryin those miracle tears
A couple weeks later I went on back
To thank the holy man that got me back on track
But no matter how hard I searched for him
I never found the church nor him again.
