We Are His Sheep

They speak the words that sound so kind,
But darkness hides beneath their mind.
Their smile may glow, their cloak may shine,
Yet truth is lost in their design.

A wolf may wear the shepherd’s tone,
To lure the flock away alone.
He feeds on those who are worn down,
“Then steals the truth they once had found.”

We are His sheep, we know His voice,
To follow truth, our greatest choice.
Through faith we stand, through love we live,
For all we have, to Him we give.

The gentle fold must watch and pray,
For traps that line the narrow way.
Not every light that glows is pure,
Deception walks where hearts aren't sure.

The pasture calls, but not all lead,
To living streams and holy feed.
Some voice the psalms yet twist the truth,
And steal the joy of seeking youth.

The faithful ones will guard their steps,
They hold to truth that God has kept.
When falsehood calls, they will not fall,
For Christ’s own hand protects them all.

A loving tone may hide a snare,
When pride replaces love and prayer.
So weigh each word upon the scale,
Of scripture’s light that must prevail.
