Rain and Roots

Sun-kissed sands fade behind my mind,

A new chapter's about to unwind.

From the Sonoran glow, I used to roam,

Where the desert winds and cactus seeds call home.

Now I glimpse a sky so gray, rain falls in gentle play,

Life’s shifting tide, a sweet goodbye to the old days.

Memories in the golden sun,

Fading as a new’s begun.

Laughing with my grandkids near,

Hearts are warm, the sky is clear.

Moving down the rivers of change,

To where the rain breaks free from the sky.

Holding on to love's sweet range,

Grandkids’ laughter, lullabies.

Waterfalls in my dreams, washing worries down,

Every drop a blessing found,

In the rain, I’ll find my ground.

Sun and rain, a dance anew,

Retirement’s sweet, life’s bright view.

From desert sands to Carolina’s pour,

Home is love, forevermore.
