Doin My Best

Early in the morning I rise out of bed

So tired I can barely raise my head

Quietly walk down the hall, sleepy heads still rest

That first cup of coffee seems the best.

Long ride so cold I can see my breathe.

Blue collar worker doin his best.

Work before the sunrise and past the sunset

Broken back, tired hands, no regret

Mouths to feed, can’t slow down

Only thing I can do and I’m proud

Whistle blows it’s time for work

Hard to think that safety come first

Do this do that there’s no time to wait

Policy and rules seem so faint

Who has time when production can’t wait.

It’s all a blur on this old concrete
