I was just a child, no older than ten

Family by blood, but never sincere

Stole pieces of me I still struggle to find

My cries were loud, but no one came

Especially her… she just looked away

My mother knew, but she closed her eyes

Chose her comfort over my cries

She let it happen, turned from the truth

Left me alone in the worst of my youth

No food, no warmth, no one to trust

I learned to survive when love turned to dust

But through every shadow, through every lie

You held me close — You heard my cry
