In The Shadows

Shadows creeping, silence screams,

Lost within these shattered dreams.

Fading light beneath the gloom,

Echoes of a silent doom.

Hope a distant, fading star,

Wishing on what’s fallen, scars.

Bitter winds, they cut so deep,

Promises I can't keep.

Night consumes the fading day,

Lost in endless shades of grey.

Surrender to the dark inside,

hopeless tears I can’t hide.

Alone with despair’s cold hand,

A broken soul, a sinking stand.

Dismay in every sigh,

Angry tears I won't deny.

Darkness wraps my heart so tight,

In this despairless night.

Shattered hope, a hollow cry,

Bitter truth I can’t deny.

Anger burns a burning flame,

Lost inside this endless shame.

Fade into the shadows deep,

Hoping someday I might keep,

Some fragile piece of light,
