Shadows of a Broken Dream

Shadows fall on empty streets,

Echoes of a forgotten dream.

Whispered hopes in silent screams,

Lost within the waking stream.

Broken dreams lie scattered on the floor,

Pieces of what we were before.

Stressed and strained, trying to find the door,

Back to light, behind these walls we bore.

Longing for a brighter sky,

Caught in shadows, asking why.

Darkness wraps me, heavy and high,

Seeking the dawn as tears dry.

Down in the depths of a restless mind,

Dark and hollow, hard to find.

Struggles weigh, but I won’t resign,

Hope’s a flicker, a fragile shine.

Walking through the dark, I breathe,

Struggling with what I believe.

Longing for the light to weave,

Dreams again, to conceive.

Though the night is long and deep,

Broken dreams are mine to keep,

In the dark, I start to leap,

Hoping someday I will sweep.
