Stay Through The Storm

Everybody talks about love like it's always sunshine

Like it's butterflies and late night conversations

But nobody tells you about the nights you sleep on opposite sides

The mornings where the silence feels like a wall between two strangers

Nobody tells you that forever is a choice you make

When choosing to leave would be so much easier

I've seen couples fall apart over smaller things than this

Watched my parents give up when the road got rough

Told myself I'd never be that man who walks away

When the woman he promised forever to needs him to stay

And I meant it then, I mean it now even more

Because loving you taught me what these words are for

I'm not going anywhere when the rain starts falling

Not going to run when the thunder calls my name

I know it's hard right now, I know we're barely holding on

But I'd rather fight beside you than be comfortable alone

This is what love requires, not just the easy days

But the nights we question everything and choose to stay anyway

You asked me last night if I still loved you the same

And I couldn't answer right away, not because I don't

But because the love I have for you now is different than before

It's deeper, it's tested, it's walked through fire and survived

It's not the love of a boy who didn't know any better

It's the love of a man who knows exactly what he has

I've memorized the way you breathe when you're frustrated
