Veritatem quaere

A reckless life I craved,

Drinking deep, consuming, lost to the night.

A frantic race, without end,

Wild I ran, 'til dawn's first light.

My skin full of scars of my youth,

Memories etched in substance and sin.

The scars are my tattoos,

Each scar a testament to where I've been.

Trapped in a faithless, empty life,

Demons of the past, a constant fight.

They fueled my life with strife,

One night, the darkness swallowed me whole.

It was the night

I almost surrendered the fight,

A night drowned in rum's empty tomb,

My body numb, my spirit doomed.

Then from the sky, an angel's cry:

"Veritatem quaere, et Deus te iuvabit.

Fidem in Deo repere, et vitae incredulae finem impones!

Angeli boni iter tuum luce perfundant!"

And in my troubled mind I heard,

"Stop this reckless life, begin anew."

Those words, like ringing bells, dispelled the future I feared.

I must release old habits, to find paradise.

I try to start a life in soberity

Each step a battle, wanting more

But at the end of the tunnel in find victory

Days go and I rise to new glore

The angel's words, saved my life

A illuminated path a head

I found the truth, but not at the end of a knife

The rum bottles past and dead

It was one night

I almost surrendered the fight,

But the rum is gone

And my soul feels like reborn

The joyful chorus of angels sing:

Veritas tibi revelata est, et fides te comitatur.

Deus te et iter tuum prosperet.

Pugnam superavisti, et iam liberatus es
