Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Walking on eggshells, shadows in my mind

Lost between the rocks, the hard place I find

Echoes of her footsteps, haunting every thought

Questioning my worth, wondering what I sought

Year of '85, love was like a flame

Burning deep inside, never feeling shame

She walked on ground that I adored

Madly in love, but love’s a sword

Took a fall, for her safety, took the blame

Thought the change would come, end the pain

But the nights grew colder, words turned to stones

Carrying this burden, heart of broken bones

Between a rock and a hard place, I stand
