Choice

Searching through the haze 
I walk because I have to get on past the days,  wait for time to heal the wounds 
Unlit tunnels run into each other,  into weeks made up of promises,  of false hope,  stringing memories along 
I can do just what I please,  at least that's what you told me, but I can't help wondering if it's really what you mean 
I know that I'm to blame,  but I mean well, all the same.  Although it's possible you'll never understand what I am saying. 

And if I choose to laugh,  I laugh 
And if I cry for you,  I have to 
But it won't mean a thing;
Things always circle around you 
Always back to you,  always coming back to you 
I think you'll never really know just what I feel for you 
Perhaps,  at times,  I'm torn,  but I hope you will believe my devotion goes to you with every ounce of energy

Peace of mind comes naturally if it's allowed to
